To accompany young persons, who have additional support needs, on and off school transport, providing adequate supervision and ensuring that a high degree of care and health and safety is maintained at all times.

\n

Requirements\n

Assisting young persons on and off the vehicle.

\n

Supervising young persons on board the vehicle to maintain care, discipline and high standards of health and safety.

\n

Ensuring the personal health and safety of each young person while on board the vehicle.

\n

Liaising with Head Teachers/parents/guardians.

\n

Self confidence and self motivated

Strong customer care skills Ability to follow routines Ability to keep order and discipline Ability to work as part of an effective team

Ability to relate positively to children and their parents

\n

Active listening and observational skills for effective communication with young people, parents and staff

\n

Ability to work under the guidance and direction of teaching staff to assist young people in sensitive and enabling activities, such as toileting, dressing/undressing, feeding

\n

Flexible and adaptable

\n

Able to assist in and/or carry out certain lifting tasks associated with the care of dependent young people in accordance with moving and handling regulations

\n

\n

\n

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
