Job Description
To carry out the duties of an advanced craft Plumber and to contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective maintenance service.
Responsibilities
To undertake craft duties as directed by the Plumbing & Heating Co-ordinator/Supervisor
To provide out of hours cover when required.
To undertake training as required.
To comply with all Health and Safety and security procedures and guidelines.
To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably expected from time to time.
The Individual
Time Served Plumber or 3rd / 4th year apprentice considered with full working knowledge of domestic plumbing & heating systems
Working knowledge and suitably qualified to maintain, service and install gas central heating boilers.
3rd / 4th year apprentice SVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent
Current SNIJIB/Gas Safe Register Grading Card
CCN1, including CPA1 Certification* CENWAT, CKR1 & HTR1 Certification
Capable of working on own or as a team member
Self-confident and self-motivated
Full driving licence
Ability to undertake daily checks on vehicle and record information accurately
Good all round knowledge of a range of domestic plumbing & heating systems.
Ability to follow routines and instructions
Able to communicate effectively with both members of the public and colleagues
Ability to deal with people in a professional and courteous manner
Ability to deliver high levels of customer care.
Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the practice of effective team working.
Willingness to accept direction/delegation
Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service
Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
Must be able to move and handle equipment and materials in accordance with manual handling regulations

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Building Services team at the DLO, that directly employ over 150 multi trade and specialist support staff. Services provided include building maintenance and improvement services to the Council’s 6,300 houses, as well as reactive and planned maintenance to other Council building that includes schools, offices and libraries.
Moray Council provides an excellent package including on & off site training, provision of personal protective equipment and tools.
