Duration: 9-12 months

Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join our client\’s legal team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This is a hybrid role with a commitment to 2-3 days per week in the London office. The role will primarily focus on procurement, SaaS contracts, and data privacy, with the expectation that the candidate will work independently with minimal support from the client\’s side.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and redline vendor contracts based on established playbook guidelines.
  2. Provide legal support on IT contracting, particularly in the SaaS space, ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy laws.
  3. Offer independent legal advice and support to business teams, ensuring risk mitigation and contract efficiency.
  4. Draft and negotiate contracts, including those related to IT services, procurement, and data privacy.
  5. Potential involvement in contracts within the oil & gas sector and exposure to engineering/construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, GCC).
  6. Liaise with external clients, managing relationships and ensuring service delivery in line with client expectations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  1. 5+ years of relevant experience as a commercial lawyer, with a focus on procurement, SaaS, and data privacy.
  2. Experience in IT contracting and a solid understanding of data privacy law (e.g., GDPR).
  3. Experience in the oil and gas industry and/or exposure to engineering and construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, GCC) is highly desirable.
  4. Proven ability to work independently, with minimal training or supervision required.
  5. Strong redlining and contract negotiation skills.
  6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
