Are you an NPD Chef/Technician who is working in a Food Manufacturer that’s open to a new challenge that includes creating, enhancing & further expanding an extensive product range? This position would include some travel to showcase new value-added products to all major retailers & food service clients. You will play a key role in bringing new concepts to life, from kitchen development through to factory trials and product launch, working closely across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical and production teams to support product development
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for product approval processes
- Assist with factory trials and scale-up of new products
- Plan, prepare, and coordinate samples, including ingredient sourcing and courier arrangements
- Conduct organoleptic testing throughout product shelf life, recording findings and recommending improvements
- Manage and follow critical path timelines, proactively identifying and mitigating risks
- Ensure accurate labelling, packing, and dispatch of product samples
- Source ingredients and competitor benchmark samples when required
- Maintain a strong commercial awareness throughout development projects
- Based in Scunthorpe but willingness to travel, full driving license and own transport is essential
Experience
- Previous experience within food manufacturing (essential)
- Strong understanding of chilled and/or frozen food categories
- Experience with product costing and commercial awareness
- Familiarity with retail and foodservice customer requirements, including major ‘Big 4’ UK retailers
- Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Highly organised with strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
