Are you a hands-on mechanical maintenance engineer who enjoys fault-finding, improving reliability, and keeping production moving? We're looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site within a global operation. This is a practical role offering variety, stability, and the chance to work on complex process equipment in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
You'll be a key part of the site engineering function, responsible for the maintenance, repair, and reliability of mechanical plant and machinery. This is a role for someone who enjoys being on the tools, solving problems, and improving how equipment performs day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned, preventative & reactive mechanical maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs efficiently
- Working on pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, valves, pipework & rotating equipment
- Interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, schematics & technical manuals
- Supporting breakdowns and identifying root causes
- Welding & fabrication work (MIG/TIG)
- Managing critical spare parts and maintenance documentation
- Liaising with contractors and suppliers for servicing and upgrades
- Ensuring compliance with H&S, quality, environmental & feed/food safety standards
- Supporting site operations, including occasional overtime or weekends
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong mechanical engineering background
- Proven experience in maintenance or reliability engineering
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Confident working from mechanical drawings & P&IDs
- Welding capability (MIG/TIG)
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience in process, food, FMCG, or packaging environments
- Forklift truck licence
