We are seeking an experienced Applications Development Manager - Microsoft Dynamics 365 to lead and manage our development function while maintaining strong hands-on technical capability across our Dynamics 365 ecosystem and integrated systems. This role combines people leadership, delivery ownership, and technical oversight. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the development team, defining, and delivering the application roadmap, and ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions aligned to business strategy. The role will act as the technical lead across Dynamics 365 applications, integrations, APIs, and supporting platforms, while ensuring strong governance and operational alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Development Leadership & Delivery
- Lead, mentor, and manage the internal development team.
- Own the application development roadmap.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality standards.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, documentation practices, and development governance.
- Oversee sprint planning, workload distribution, and delivery tracking.
- Provide hands-on technical support on projects where required.
- Architecture & Solution Oversight
- Oversee the design, optimisation, and ongoing development of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
- Ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing system architectures.
- Review and approve technical designs produced by developers and third-party partners.
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation including system diagrams, integration flows, and specifications.
- Integration & Technical Capability
- Define and oversee integration strategies between Dynamics 365 and third-party systems (e.g., ERP, finance systems, APIs, data platforms).
- Provide technical guidance on API design and system interoperability.
- Support development across technologies including Java, Python, and other relevant languages where required.
- Ensure effective data governance, system security, and compliance alignment.
- Performance & Optimisation
- Monitor and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead system enhancements, upgrades, and platform improvements.
- Collaborate with IT Security & Helpdesk to ensure secure and supportable solutions.
- Contribute to business continuity and resilience planning.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business leaders to translate requirements into structured technical delivery plans.
- Provide technical input into project planning, budgeting, and vendor management.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture and customisation.
- In-depth knowledge of the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Power Pages).
- Experience designing and implementing API integrations.
- Working knowledge of development languages such as Java, Python, or similar technologies.
- Experience with Azure services and cloud-based integration patterns.
- Strong understanding of security models, role-based access control, and compliance best practices.
- Experience
- Proven experience in a Development Manager, Technical Lead, or Senior Developer role.
- Experience leading and mentoring development teams.
- Experience delivering complex system implementations and integrations.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and system integrators.
