The post holder will assist with the delivery of ophthalmic services at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. The role involves facilitating the provision of excellent nursing care and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team as a scrub nurse in theatre.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for carrying out clinical ophthalmic practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
- Perform scrubbing duties of different ophthalmic procedures.
- Apply knowledge across the range of ophthalmic work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
- Act as an advocate for patients within the area, ensuring a patient-oriented approach to the delivery of care and meeting NHS standards.
- Participate in key developments relating to the ophthalmic specialty to promote high-quality patient-focused services.
- Help ensure that the learning environment and specialist training is provided for the benefit of all staff and that evidence-based practice is incorporated and utilized in the teaching environment.
- Ensure mandatory training is kept up to date.
- Work with the Practice Development Team in the development and implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Be a role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice, providing support or advice when necessary.
- Actively participate in audit taking, presenting and sharing of audit outcomes.
