Join Moorfields Eye Hospital as a part‑time ophthalmic technician working in our busy vitreo‑retinal outpatient and emergency unit for a fixed 1‑year term.
Role Overview
As an ophthalmic technician you will assess visual acuity, measure intra‑ocular pressure, obtain retinal imaging and instill eye drops. You will work across the outpatient and emergency settings, supporting a multidisciplinary team and following the standard operating procedures and protocols.
Key responsibilities
- Perform visual acuity testing, intra‑ocular pressure readings (iCare), R.A.P.D. assessments and retinal imaging.
- Instill eye drops and provide palliative care in the emergency and outpatient clinics.
- Plan and implement straightforward tasks guided by SOPs and protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician is desirable; full training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Ability to work efficiently and pro‑actively with excellent communication skills.
