Job overview: Moorfields Eye Hospital is currently partnering with UCL to build a new Centre for Eye Health in St Pancras, London via a JDV (Oriel Estates Services). The new Centre is currently under construction and due to open in the summer of 2027. It will be a state‑of‑the‑art centre for advancing eye health enabling the delivery of the highest clinical care and attract the best ophthalmic scientists, educators and clinicians.
A significant programme of small works, coordination and management exists to support equipping, operational adjustments, asset optimisation and infrastructure improvements during the early operational lifecycle of the building. This role will deliver these projects, starting with early engagement with building users, ensuring projects are coordinated and managed effectively, risks are controlled and operational improvements are delivered in accordance with governance frameworks and budgetary controls.
Main duties of the job:
- Develop a delivery plan for all minor works projects identified, to include timelines, resource allocation and costs.
- Coordinate (and potentially manage) minor works projects during the Operational Commissioning period between PC and the Oriel building becoming fully operational.
- Monitor project progress to ensure delivery within agreed budgets, schedules and performance targets.
- Liaise with contractors and service providers regarding defects and remediation during liability period.
- Ensure all project works comply with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Maintain project documentation including governance records, risk registers and financial tracking.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are delivered to required quality standards.
- Coordinate stakeholders to ensure project activities align with operational requirements.
- Identify risks associated with infrastructure works and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide progress updates and project reports to OES senior leadership.
- Contribute to long‑term infrastructure improvement and asset optimisation strategies.
- Ensure lessons learned from project delivery are captured to support continuous improvement.
- Undertake additional duties relevant to the role and grade as required.

Person specification:
Education & Qualification:- APM Project management qualification – PMQ as a minimum
- Evidence of continued professional development and relevant specialist training.
- Other Project Management Qualification – e.g. MSP or Prince2
- Degree in Construction Project Management, Engineering, or Building Services
- Experience managing construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience managing multiple contractors and project stakeholders
- Highly developed knowledge across the range of projects underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience of working in a healthcare building services environment
- Awareness of implications on complex plant, equipment, and services, acquired through academic development, experience and training courses and maintained through CPD
- Development of safe and efficient systems of work and processes
- Excellent working knowledge of Building and Health and Safety Legislation, NHS HTM & HBN, and Life Sciences environments that relate to statutory compliance
- Able to facilitate and coordinate multiple stakeholders within a complex dynamic healthcare and life sciences environment
- Able to communicate well, articulating project matters clearly and concisely to non‑technical personnel.
- Experience of collaborating with colleagues in other departments/organisations, using influence and negotiation to resolve inter‑departmental issues.
