Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity? Are you an energetic and motivated registered practitioner? Moorfields Eye Hospital at Stratford & St Ann's is seeking to appoint band 5 roles. Experience in ophthalmology is not essential, as you will receive a tailored induction and development plan based on your individual needs, and you will attend our New to Ophthalmology course.
Moorfields is one of the world's leading eye hospitals, providing expertise in clinical care, research, and education. We are expanding our network of satellite sites, offering acute ophthalmic services at St Ann's & Stratford. We are at the forefront of research into eye care and eye disease, and our innovation in patient care is renowned across the sector.
The theatre team is supported by the theatre manager and senior theatre practitioners. The team has successfully gained cataract hub accreditation from NHS England's Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
You will have the opportunity to learn about each of the very specialised areas of ophthalmology surgical practice as a team member in our theatres.
Experience- Work in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a scrub nurse for a defined group of patients.
- Protect and support the health of individual patients and clients.
- Assess care during the peri-operative period.
- Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, including discharge planning from the theatre suite for each patient.
- Provide skilled assistance to anaesthetists and surgeons in the Moorfields operating theatres.
- Act appropriately in emergencies.
- Assist in promoting and implementing the MEH Nursing Strategy in the department.
- Maintain a visible presence for Moorfields staff and patients.
- Liaise with the patient booking team to ensure lists are booked efficiently and resources are used effectively.
- Promote and maintain effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team between Moorfields Eye Hospital and its satellite sites.
- Facilitate and support student nurses and others to develop their competence and skills, enabling them to become competent practitioners.
- Participate in the training and development of Health Care Assistants and complete assessor training as required.
- Support other sites when the need arises.
Stratford Moorfields is situated within Granta House, 15‐19 Broadway, London E15 4BQ, in proximity to Stratford overground and underground network, and with an abundance of local buses that serve the area. For St Ann's, there is Haringey overground and Seven Sisters supported by the 67 or 341 bus.
The expectation is to support both sites. We treat people at our main hospital base in London's City Road and at over 20 satellite facilities in and around the capital, enabling expert treatment closer to patients' homes.
