We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Employee Relations Manager to join our People & OD team. Working closely with the Head of Employee Relations, you will lead on complex employee relations matters, ensuring that cases are managed effectively. You will act as a specialist advisor on a full range of ER matters including complex disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and workplace conflict cases. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape ER practice, influence organisational culture, and ensure managers are skilled, confident, and supported to deal effectively with people management issues.

Main duties of the job:

  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to managers on complex employee relations cases.
  • Managing and supporting investigations, hearings, and appeals.
  • Providing specialist employment law and policy advice to managers at all levels.
  • Designing and delivering ER-related training for managers and HR colleagues.
  • Supporting the delivery of resolution-based approaches, restorative practice, and Just Culture.
  • Developing ER policies, processes, and resources, and enhancing intranet guidance for managers.
  • Working with divisions to identify ER trends, hotspots, and opportunities for intervention.
  • Championing inclusive, fair, and values-led leadership behaviours across the Trust.

Person specification:

  • A degree plus CIPD qualification (level 7) or extensive experience in a senior employee relations role
  • Educated to post-graduate level or extensive experience in an HR Manager or senior HR Advisor role
  • Formal training in a relevant topic such as coaching, mediation, or employment law

Experience:

  • Significant demonstrable experience of advising a range of stakeholders on a broad range of ER issues, balancing legal compliance with business need, and developing practical value-adding solutions
  • Experience in managing multiple complex ER cases from a strategic perspective

Skills:

  • Excellent demonstrable knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice in ER policies, principles, and procedures
