Job Overview

We are looking to recruit an AMD clinic co‑ordinator. The role provides effective service for Moorfields North and a designated service or group of consultants, acting as the primary point of contact for patients and staff for any administrative issues relating to the AMD clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high standard of reception/first point of contact and administrative support, including timely and accurate cashing up of clinics.
  • Ensure patients receive clear information regarding their AMD pathways and that their pathway is managed smoothly and efficiently.
  • Work closely with responsible surgeons and lead nurses to ensure appointments are appropriately booked.
  • Check patient information for accuracy, make necessary alterations to health records and PAS, and record outpatient outcomes, RTT status and procedure coding.
  • Book diagnostic and follow‑up appointments in liaison with appropriate departments, highlighting any booking issues to clinicians.
  • Maintain regular communication and liaison with clinical and nursing teams, keeping them informed of any events that may impact clinic running.
  • Manage Do Not Attend (DNA) and discharge patients as per the Access Policy, ensuring clinics are ‘cashed up’ promptly.
  • Assist with reception telephone calls and enquiries from staff, patients and carers.
  • Ensure support appointments, interpreters and transport are booked in a timely manner and send out clinic appointment letters promptly.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GCSE level (including English and Maths to GCSE A‑C) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience carrying out administrative duties and working with the general public in a customer‑oriented role.
  • Previous clerical experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Previous experience using Trust IT systems such as PAS, OpenEyes.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Health and Safety awareness.

Desirable criteria

  • Excellent frontline/reception skills.
  • Computer literate and proficient with NHS IT systems.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Initiative to address unforeseen problems.
  • Experience dealing with queries over the phone and in person.
