Job Overview
The postholder will manage day-to-day Information Governance (IG) compliance enquiries relating to Information Asset Management and Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance. They will support and coordinate external assessment submissions, including DSPT, internal and external audits, CQC evidence requests, and compliance reporting. The role will coordinate information asset register activities, including data flow mapping, procurement due diligence, reviews, assurance processes, and reporting. Responsibilities include undertaking compliance spot checks, managing the IG compliance platform for information assets, supporting the development of information asset management practices, and monitoring progress against compliance targets.
The postholder will work closely with Information Security colleagues on compliance matters, support related workflows, and maintain IG action trackers to ensure timely delivery of work. They will monitor IG training compliance, provide advice on data protection, confidentiality, information rights, and information security requirements, and deliver training where required.

Main duties of the job
Advice and escalating complex or confidential matters as appropriate. Triage and coordination of IG incidents, ensuring timely escalation and resolution. Coordinate Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) submissions, audits and compliance assessments.
Produce compliance reports, dashboards and management information, including trend analysis, performance monitoring and issue escalation to relevant committees and senior management. Manage and monitor IG action plans and task trackers, ensuring timely delivery of agreed actions. Review and maintenance of IG policies, procedures, guidance and learning materials.
Coordinate Information Asset Management activities. Undertake IG spot checks and assurance reviews across clinical and corporate areas, providing written feedback and monitoring completion of actions. Maintain IG, Caldicott and compliance enquiries and support IG incident investigations where required. Coordinate IG risk assessments, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and arrange associated meetings and reviews. Organise and support DSPT Working Group and other governance meetings, preparing papers, taking minutes and tracking actions.
Maintain IG intranet content and support the effective operation of team systems and processes. Travel between Trust sites as required to undertake assurance, training and compliance activities.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The Senior Information Governance Officer will support the Trust’s Information Governance team in the delivery of the Trust’s Information Governance (IG) strategy and operational workflows.
This post will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational enquiries within the organisation on information asset management and DSPT compliance.
- Support and co-ordinate the delivery of external assessment submissions, including the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, Internal Audit, external audits, and supporting IG information to others’ audits (eg CQC) and progress reporting
- Support and co-ordinate the delivery of information asset register accessions, including data flow mapping, procurement due diligence, reviews and reporting
- To assist in embedding IG compliance across the organisation.
- Undertake spot checks in relation to IG compliance
- Manage the IG compliance platform for information assets
- Support the development of information asset management practice
- Manage IG compliance returns and report on progress towards targets
- Co-ordinate with the IS Team on all IG compliance matters
- Support the IS team with respective workflows
- Manage the IG team action/task trackers and co-ordinate the timely delivery of work.
- To lead on Trust IG training outcome monitoring, provide specialist knowledge, advice and training on compliance elements of data protection, information rights, confidentiality and information security.
- To deliver Data Security Awareness and IG Compliance training sessions to the organisation where required
- Undertake walk about visits in relation to information governance
- Deputise for the IG Manager as and when required.
- Support the management of the IG department’s risk register
- Support the IG secretarial function including arranging meetings, minuting and note taking.
- Support the IG team with any other admin and support as required
- Supervise the IG apprentice.
