Job Overview

Moorfields Eye Hospital is partnering with UCL to build a new Centre for Eye Health in St Pancras, London via a JDV (Oriel Estates Services).

The Centre is under construction and is scheduled to open in summer 2027.

It will host state‑of‑the‑art clinical care, research and education.

This role, for a FM Projects Implementation Manager, will support the early operational life of the building, delivering minor works, coordinating contractors, improving operational performance and managing risks within governance and budgeting frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a delivery plan for all minor works projects, including timelines, resources, and costs.
  • Coordinate, and potentially manage, minor works through the operational commissioning period.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure delivery within agreed budgets, schedules, and performance targets.
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers regarding defects and remediation during liability periods.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation, including governance records, risk registers and financial tracking.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure delivery to required quality standards.
  • Coordinate stakeholders to align project activities with operational requirements.
  • Identify risks associated with infrastructure works and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide progress updates and project reports to OES senior leadership.
  • Contribute to long‑term infrastructure improvement and asset optimisation strategies.
  • Capture lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
  • Undertake additional duties relevant to the role and grade as required.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification (Essential)

  • APM Project management qualification – PMQ or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continued professional development and relevant specialist training.
  • Other Project Management Qualification – e. g. MSP or Prince2.

Education & Qualification (Desirable)

  • Degree in Construction Project Management, Engineering, or Building Services.

Experience (Essential)

  • Managing construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Managing multiple contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Delivering minor works or refurbishment programmes within a healthcare environment.
  • Managing project budgets and financial controls.

Experience (Desirable)

  • Delivering minor works or refurbishment programmes within a life sciences environment.

Skills and Qualities (Essential)

  • Collaboration with colleagues in other departments/organisations, using influence and negotiation to resolve inter‑departmental issues.
