Job Overview: The NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London has recently been awarded funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to optimise the delivery of world-class research in ophthalmology and science associated with vision and sight. The Facility forms part of the Moorfields NIHR Biomedical Research Centre for Ophthalmology, a joint initiative between Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London Institute of Ophthalmology. The CRF is dedicated to the delivery of high-quality clinical research, including experimental medicine and translational research studies, pioneering new therapies for the treatment of a range of ophthalmic disorders.

Main duties of the job:

  • Ensure effective data and data quality management, and reporting for studies undertaken within the Clinical Research Facility.
  • Work as part of a team of data management/study coordination staff providing comprehensive data management and trial coordination support to the department.
  • Ensure that clinical data required for CRF adopted trials are completed, validated and returned to study sponsors in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Promote high-quality research, both within the Trust, nationally and internationally.
  • Ensure the clinical data collection, entry and transfer of information is of the highest standard.
  • Develop existing data storage systems and processes as the needs of the service change.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Good grades in GCSE English, Science and Mathematics
  • GCE A-Levels (or equivalent)
  • Desirable: Educated to degree level or equivalent training or experience
  • Formal IT training

Skills/abilities:

  • Comprehensive IT skills with experience in working with spreadsheets and databases
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrable success in working for a complex organisation (e.g. NHS or Academia)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Desirable: Experience in handling large quantities of data
  • Familiar with research methodology and clinical audit
