We are a well-established construction company based in Newton Abbot, undertaking a diverse range of building and renovation projects with a strong focus on the residential sector. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and reliable Multi-Skilled Tradesperson to join our expanding team. About the Role
As a key member of our team, you will be involved in all aspects of residential construction and maintenance projects. This role requires a proactive and versatile individual who can deliver high-quality work across multiple trades, working effectively both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will likely have a core competency in carpentry or wet trade but must possess a solid, demonstrable understanding of associated trades to handle project finishes and snagging efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Trade Proficiency: Executing high-quality work in your core trade (e.g., carpentry, plastering, or general maintenance) to a high standard.
- Multi-Trade Execution: Proactively undertaking a wide range of tasks to move projects forward, including:
- Plasterboarding and basic Plastering
- Carpentry (e.g., door hanging, skirting boards, framing, fitting kitchen units)
- Basic Tiling (wall and floor)
- Basic Plumbing (e.g., tap replacement, fixing leaks, installing appliances)
- Minor Patch Brickwork/Blockwork (advantageous)
- Working safely and adhering to all health and safety regulations on site.
- Operating effectively within domestic working environments, showing respect for clients' properties and privacy.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Maintaining a positive 'can-do' attitude and demonstrating a strong work ethic.
- Working on your own initiative to complete tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of continuous experience as a general builder or multi-skilled operative in a residential setting.
- Qualifications: Preferable minimum of NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a core building trade such as Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering, bricklaying or Maintenance Operations.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations within the construction industry.
- Customer Facing: Proven experience working effectively within domestic environments and demonstrating excellent communication skills with the ability to interact politely and presentably with clients.
- Work Ethic: Exceptional work ethic and a proactive, solution-focused approach to tasks.
- Logistics: Full UK Driving Licence.
- Tools & Transport: Ownership of a comprehensive set of hand tools and portable power tools, and own reliable transportation to and from site.
- Verification: Must be able to provide two trade references from recent employment/contracts (ideally within the last 12 months). Applications will not progress without these.
- Desirable: Valid CSCS card.
Remuneration & Application
- Pay: Negotiable based on the breadth of demonstrated skills and experience, ranging from £16.00 to £19.00 per hour.
