Overview
As the Head of Commercial Finance for Moorepay, you\’ll be a key strategic partner to the CFO and the leadership team, responsible for driving commercial insight, improving financial processes, and ensuring robust financial decision-making. You will lead the Commercial Finance function, partnering with Sales, Marketing & Implementation to optimise revenue and profitability, and align with the Financial Reporting team on reporting, cost management and budget consolidation.
Responsibilities
Finance Data Architecture & MI Strategy
- Design and implement a scalable finance data architecture that enables real-time decision-making.
- Develop MI reporting providing visibility on revenue performance (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, churn), drivers and profitability.
- Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team to integrate commercial insights into broader financial reporting.
- Drive automation and efficiency in reporting and ensure data consistency across finance and business functions.
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Build and lead a high-performing Commercial Finance team that partners with Sales, Marketing and Implementation.
- Provide commercial insight to drive pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and profitability analysis by customer and product.
- Challenge and support sales forecasts with robust pipeline analysis and conversion tracking.
- Develop ROI models for marketing spend and assess budget implications.
- Understand the Sales-to-Implementation lifecycle to forecast revenue and identify efficiency improvements in time-to-go-live.
End-to-End Financial Process for Revenue & Cash Flow
- Ensure a seamless process from contract signature through implementation, billing, and cash collection.
- Implement strong financial controls for revenue recognition in partnership with the Financial Reporting team.
- Work with cross-functional teams to align contract terms with billing and collections.
- Proactively manage and resolve billing disputes, reduce DSO and improve working capital.
Linking with FP&A, Management Accounting & Cost Management
- Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team to incorporate commercial insights into budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning.
- Ensure revenue and cost data are reflected in the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Provide input for budget consolidation with robust commercial insights and assumptions.
- Align with cost management to assess the impact of commercial decisions on margins and efficiency.
Commercial Decision Making
- Own and drive data-led, risk-aware commercial decision making.
- Identify opportunities to optimise revenue streams, margins and operational efficiency.
- Support the CFO with investor reporting, board materials and potential M&A work.
Qualifications & Skills
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent finance/commercial background with significant PQE.
- Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to challenge and influence senior leaders.
- Autonomous, comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
- Hands-on approach with a focus on process improvement.
- Experience implementing MI and financial planning tools (Power BI or Anaplan advantageous).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience managing business change.
- Experience in a PE-backed, high-growth SaaS business with exposure to commercial finance, FP&A and business partnering.
- Understanding of SaaS metrics, revenue recognition (IFRS 15) and commercial contract structures advantageous.
