OverviewSenior Manager (Private Client Tax) role at Moore Kingston Smith, City office, London. You will drive the delivery of personal tax advisory work, including writing reports and leading discussions with prospective and existing clients. You will oversee a team of junior staff responsible for day-to-day delivery of private client services across a diverse portfolio of individual clients. This is a client-facing role with high net-worth clients and other professional advisors.Location: City, London | Department: Private Client Tax | Compensation: £77,000 – £90,000 per yearKey ResponsibilitiesProvide support to partners and directors in the effective running of the team and in winning new work.Manage a portfolio of clients with a mix of earned income and investment income.Drive the delivery of technical advisory work on the portfolio.Handle one-off advisory and compliance assignments.Be a key point of contact for the client.Deal with partnerships and high net worth individuals.Address a wide range of capital gains tax issues.Oversee the UK tax return filing process for a broad variety of clients.Monitor team progress against targets.Provide feedback and input into staff appraisals; directly responsible for appraising staff.Monitor progress and encourage the personal development of all team members.Produce high-standard written work.Suggest and implement changes to improve efficiency within the team.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseThe candidate should have experience advising on a wide range of tax issues, including the following areas:Technical expertiseCTA Qualified, or other relevant professional qualification with demonstrable experience.Advanced understanding of core private client tax issues, including personal tax anti-avoidance legislation.Confident interaction with HMRC regarding complex issues on behalf of clients.Delivers advice confidently in transactional, litigious, or confrontational circumstances.Reports on tax and other implications of incorporation of self-employment and businesses.Experience in Self-Assessment and preparation of tax computations.Demonstrable experience in report writing and ad hoc advisory work.Previous supervisory and management experience including reviewing others’ work.Planning for mitigation of Inheritance Tax including use of trusts and lifetime transfers.Experience dealing with enquiries into direct taxation including settlement and penalty negotiation.UK Trusts and Estates experience; UK trust account preparation and review is desirable.Client experiencePrivate clients and proprietors of owner-managed businesses (self-employed, partnerships and small companies).Non-UK domiciled and non-resident clients, ideally including non-UK resident trusts.UK and non-UK based high net worth individuals.Property-owning clients using corporate vehicles and trusts.EnterpriseUnderstands clients’ attitudes to risk and ensures advice is communicated clearly, correctly and consistently.Recognises that tax advice is more than just technical analysis.Business BuildingLeads discussions with prospective and existing clients, pitches, proposals and presentations on tax issues.Evidence regular referral of non-tax work to other parts of the business.Maintains own target list and can evidence targeting actions, plans and results.Proactively approaches clients and contacts with ideas and possible opportunities.Shows commercial judgement in improving the firm’s efficiency and profitability.DeliveryTakes responsibility for WIP management and billing.Meets all internal and client deadlines.Determines and explains roles, sets out expectations and responsibilities, empowers and motivates team members to deliver.Interpersonal SkillsMotivates and enthuses the team to follow the Firm’s policies and procedures.Has trust and respect of junior staff; offers support when needed.Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.Ability to see the bigger picture and act in the interests of the Firm and the team.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionFinance and SalesIndustriesAccountingNote: This description retains the essential responsibilities and qualifications for the Senior Manager (Private Client Tax) role at Moore Kingston Smith and removes extraneous boilerplate and duplicate content. #J-18808-Ljbffr
