Moore Kingston Smith is seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join our specialist Payroll Services team in St. Albans, managing a dedicated portfolio of hospitality sector clients. You will take full ownership of end-to-end payroll delivery for some of our larger, more complex client accounts. Think variable pay structures, multi-site operations, and high workforce flexibility.

Experience in hospitality payroll is a real advantage, but what matters most is that you are a confident, client-facing payroll professional who can build trusted relationships with the clients you serve. You will work closely with the Payroll Supervisor and Payroll Director within a collaborative, knowledgeable team, and have the opportunity to genuinely make the role your own. If you are looking for a role where your payroll expertise is valued and your career development is taken seriously, this is it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of complex hospitality clients across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly frequencies.
  • Handle tronc and non-tronc arrangements, NMW compliance, salary sacrifice, split shifts, unsocial hours, and variable pay.
  • Manage high volumes of starters and leavers across zero hours, casual, seasonal, and agency workers.
  • Process rota and time & attendance data, resolving discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Submit RTI filings, manage HMRC correspondence, and administer pension auto enrolment.
  • Support multi-site, multi-brand, and multi-entity payrolls, each with their own pay rules.
  • Advise clients on holiday pay, Working Time Regulations, and statutory payments.
  • Handle year-end processes: P60s, final submissions, and reconciliations.
  • Manage payment files via Bacstel and Caxton and operate IRIS Payroll Professional.

What You'll Bring

  • Hands-on payroll experience: Tronc, NMW compliance, and variable pay, a desirable requirement.
  • At least two years in a bureau or client-facing payroll environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation: RTI, statutory payments, auto enrolment, Working Time Regulations.
  • Experience with rota and time & attendance system integrations.
  • Confident with IRIS Payroll Professional (or similar) and Excel.
  • Sharp communication skills and the ability to manage a client portfolio independently.
  • CIPP qualification is a bonus, not a barrier.

Based in or around St. Albans; this is a hybrid role with a genuine office presence (3 days in office).

Job Benefits

  • Salary: Transparent pay framework & promotion opportunities to recognise your contributions and performance.
  • Generous Annual Leave: Enjoy 25 days plus three days off at Christmas.
  • Flexible Working: We're committed to a positive work-life balance, offering a hybrid working policy that prioritises your well-being and flexibility.
  • Comprehensive Wellbeing Support: Private Health Insurance, Access to Digicare+, Employee Assistance Programme, and more!
  • Professional Subscriptions: Invest in your growth and development.
  • Inclusive Employer: Be part of a diverse team with equity, inclusion, and flexibility at the core.
