Our Corporate and Business Tax team are looking for an experienced OMB/Mixed Tax Manager to join our dynamic and growing Godalming office. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the office partners and our central tax team, delivering bespoke tax advice and collaborating with specialist service teams including general practice, private client tax, legal, and financial planning. You will also oversee the delivery of corporation tax compliance services for the Godalming client base, supported by the central team. You will also work with the office partners in our Redhill office.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on a broad range of tax advisory projects and clients.
- Identify and manage tax advisory opportunities from initial meeting through to delivery.
- Provide tailored tax advice throughout all stages of a business life cycle.
- Deliver commercial, client-focused advice supported by robust technical analysis.
- Manage the delivery of advice and compliance work, overseeing and reviewing work prepared by junior team members.
- Prepare and deliver bespoke advice directly to the partners.
- Assist with pitching for new clients alongside partners.
- Advise OMBs, groups, and family businesses on holistic tax matters, including corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and ideally VAT and SDLT.
- Assist clients with reorganisations, including preparing tax valuations and HMRC clearance letters.
- Work collaboratively with in-house specialists and/or client appointed third parties to ensure that the work preserves the desired tax outcomes.
- Advise on employee share incentives and prepare valuation reports for HMRC.
- Advise on the qualifying conditions for certain tax reliefs and making advance assurance applications.
- Assist with compliance work, including reviewing the preparation of OMB corporate tax returns and preparing more complex corporation tax returns.
- Support General Practice through the review of annual computations for audit clients and provide support for technical tax queries.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Client focused with a solid knowledge base and experience of income tax self-assessment, PAYE and Corporation Tax compliance procedures.
- Understanding of accountancy principles and be CTA qualified.
- Preferably ACA/ACCA and CTA/ATT qualified.
- Extensive experience following attaining qualifications.
- Advanced excel and word skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A good team player with experience of mentoring and developing team members.
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Organised and motivated.
- A driven person who will take ownership of tasks and drive to completion.
- Ability to prioritise work and deliver to an agreed timescale and budget.
- Ability to generate creative ideas for technical work and business development purposes.
