As a Manager in our Non-Profit team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of clients in excess of GBP 500k+. You will be delivering multiple assignments to agreed deadlines, reporting directly to the Partners. The role requires proven experience working with non-profit clients.
You will have a particular focus on non-profit organisations, so you will be able to demonstrate the highest technical standards in these areas. Our non-profit clients include Charities, Schools, Oxford colleges, Religious Organisations and NHS charities, just to name a few as well as commercial clients for those wanting a mixed portfolio.
You will be a fantastic communicator, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to clients and you will have the confidence and credibility to attend Governor and Trustee meetings and to present tenders. You will be required to fully immerse yourself in the sector and the area, attending client premises, seminars and the occasional evening event.
Moore Kingston Smith works as one firm, so you will also have the desire to contribute to the overall growth and management of MKS. You will take responsibility for developing junior staff and will support the Firm's values and act as a role model for your team members.
Key Responsibilities- Day to day contact with MKS team, clients, HMRC and other professional advisors.
- All aspects of audit and accounts assignment management:
- Job planning
- Budgeting
- Time management
- Delegating to and supervising of team
- Subsequent monitoring of team progress and managing projects
- Detailed review of file, debriefing team with a key focus on feedback
- Tax Compliance if required and liaising with Tax Specialists if needed
- Finalisation of file for Partner review, including the calculation of corporation tax
- Subsequent submission to HMRC and Companies House
- Overseeing and mentoring trainees during their training contract providing assistance when required.
- Assisting in the motivation and supervision of staff (especially trainees).
- Assisting staff in finding suitable work to keep them fully occupied, also ensuring their development and progress and all staff are fully debriefed after jobs.
- Assisting with in-house training.
- Providing upward feedback.
- Attending client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis.
- Identifying account development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with the Partner.
- Assisting with preparation and presentation of new client pitches.
- Providing innovative ideas to improve systems currently in practice with regards to client or staff matters.
- Assisting with billing procedures.
- Assisting with debt collection where appropriate in liaison with client partner.
- Relevant Accounting Qualification such as ACA or ACCA or international equivalent.
- Experience of running own portfolio
- NP audit experience
- An understanding of corporate tax and VAT
- High level of familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards
