Overview

In this role you support a diverse portfolio of clients from family-run to multinational groups, building on your audit experience within a growing firm. You will lead audits, mentor junior staff, and develop client relationships while collaborating with partners and directors. The role offers exposure to varied sectors and the chance to specialise in areas that match your interests. You will contribute to delivering high-quality, client-focused services and may engage in training initiatives and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead audits from planning to completion including fieldwork, review and finalisation
  • Manage budgets and deadlines for audits
  • Prepare and review financial statements under FRS 102, FRS 102 1A and other relevant frameworks
  • Deliver a complete audit file for manager review
  • Supervise on-site audit teams and assist junior staff with technical accounting questions
  • Undertake substantive and controls-based audits
  • Draft management recommendations post-fieldwork and prepare close-out meeting agendas
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with Partners and Directors
  • Promote firm interests with clients and third parties
  • Contribute to special work such as benchmarking reports, management information reviews and proposal pitches
  • Assist and supervise junior team members alongside Managers
  • Attend client events as needed
  • Identify and progress business development opportunities with clients in liaison with Partners/Directors
  • Engage in internal networking and specialist services
  • Deliver a high-quality, responsive service to clients
  • Work to develop client relationships and promote services

Key requirements

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experience leading audits for owner-managed businesses, SMEs and larger corporate clients
  • Strong experience in substantive and controls-based audits
  • Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial reporting frameworks
  • Experience with Caseware, CCH Accounts Production, Xero, Quickbooks, Alphatax, and Office 365 desirable
  • High motivation and excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to use initiative
  • Adaptable with strong organisational and time management skills
  • Confident communicator able to build rapport quickly with clients
