We are seeking a motivated and ambitious individual who is nearing completion of their ICAEW ACA qualification. As a Senior Associate, you will build on your existing experience while continuing your journey toward full qualification. As part of our Nonprofit team, you will gain valuable experience working with a diverse range of charities and independent schools, as well as corporate exposure through engagement with trading subsidiaries and corporate membership organisations. From the outset, you will work with our clients, who choose us because we understand them so well. You will get to know their businesses, uncover the obstacles they face and become familiar with their sectors. The experience is varied. Some projects last a few days, others a few weeks. We encourage you to take responsibility early on, and you will get to grips with all aspects of the role and audit process.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting audit fieldwork on behalf of a wide variety of nonprofit clients, with support from the wider audit team.
- Drafting recommendations for improvements to clients’ financial systems and controls.
- Attending client meetings with the wider team.
- Assist in planning audits, including reviewing prior year information and preparing lead schedules.
- Prepare financial statements in line with relevant standards and legal requirements.
- Draft corporation tax computations and support tax-related audit procedures.
- Support the preparation of audit close-out meeting materials and discussion points.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, including technical and tax departments.
- Help manage client expectations and meet deadlines throughout the audit process.
- Maintain knowledge of all relevant ISA requirements and MKS internal policies in producing audit files.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of double entry accounting/bookkeeping.
- Work with other trainees to deliver assignments and assist them with their personal development.
- Currently studying towards the ICAEW ACA qualification, having begun or completed professional level papers.
- Have achieved a 2:1 or above, from a degree in any discipline, or progressed onto the ACA qualification via an alternative route, such as completing AAT Level 4.
- Have obtained at least 112 UCAS points from three A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications.
- At least 1 year of audit experience and experience of working with non-profit clients is mandatory.
- Technically competent.
- Experience of Pro-audit, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, QuickBooks, Alphatax, Office 365 would be desirable.
- Excellent communicators, adaptable, enjoy building relationships and are passionate about developing themselves.
