Moore Kingston Smith is looking for a Partner, with strong private client tax advisory skills and a background in successfully driving new business, to join its growing and talented private client tax team.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as lead adviser to a portfolio comprising a broad range of clients
- Provide commercial and sound technical advice on a broad range of private client tax matters
- Oversee personal tax compliance services
- Manage risk in line with regulatory, ethics and the firm’s standards
- Take full ownership of the client relationship, including agreeing commercial fees, managing expectations, timely delivery of work and billing
- Assemble and lead the best team for clients’ needs and take responsibility for team performance
Business Development
- Identify new business opportunities for the firm and develop strategies to win new business
- Build and maintain a wide referral network and exploit market opportunities
- Identify opportunities for cross selling of services and add value within the existing client base
- Proactively market and develop the firm’s private client offering, both externally and internally
- Contribute to private client marketing publications and events
Practice Leadership & Development
- Contribute to and initiate ideas on team operational decisions, strategy and service propositions
- Contribute to oversight of existing staff resource, including their productivity and utilisation
- Provide training, guidance and support to the team
- Support the personal and professional development within the team
- Support the recruitment in the team
Technical Expertise
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK personal tax law and HMRC
- Identify and resolve complex tax issues
- Create internal and external technical material for internal and external use
- Represent the firm in technical discussions, panels, and industry forums, where relevant
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A Chartered Tax Adviser with significant tax experience ideally within a professional services firm
- A broad and deep knowledge and understanding of UK private client tax law and practice
- Experience of producing bespoke technical tax advice
- A profile within the tax profession, ideally demonstrated through the publication of articles in the professional press
- Experience of producing tax focused articles, presentations, and marketing materials for a variety of audiences
- A good understanding and working knowledge of tax technology
- Advanced MS Word and MS PowerPoint skills
- Experience of people leadership and development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A good team player, with an ability to build personal rapport with colleagues and clients
- The ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion
- The ability to prioritise work and to deliver work to an agreed timescale
- A creative, entrepreneurial, and strategic thinker
