We are a team of Chartered Independent Financial Planners and Employee Benefits Consultants, recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Our Chartered status reflects our commitment to putting clients first, maintaining high ethical standards, and investing in continuous professional development.

Within MKS Financial Planning, the Employee Benefits team is a specialist advisory function, providing pensions and employee benefits advice to corporates, charities and private organisations. We support clients across the full employee benefits landscape, including corporate pension schemes, group risk and healthcare benefits, flexible benefits and wellbeing programmes, governance and compliance, employee communications, and financial education.

This role sits within a well-established and respected specialist team, supporting corporate clients — many within the Independent Schools sector. The team advises on pension scheme design and sustainability, governance and regulatory requirements, strategic planning, total reward and wellbeing strategies, and tailored healthcare and group risk solutions.

Flexible benefits consultancy is a growing area of focus for MKS Financial Planning. In this role, you will lead the implementation of a new flexible benefits platform for our corporate clients. Acting as Project Manager, you will oversee the design, delivery and ongoing development of the platform. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, driving innovation, improving cost efficiency, and enhancing employee value, while ensuring strong governance and compliance. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on programme delivery and external provider management. Your delivery of a consistently high-quality, professional service to clients, colleagues and third parties will be key to success, and we are looking for someone who can exceed both internal and external expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and continuously evolve market leading flexible benefits programmes that drive attraction, retention and employee engagement.
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert, advising executive leadership on reward strategy, market trends and emerging benefits innovations.
  • Introducing new solutions to enhance the employee value proposition, incorporating trends in wellbeing, financial resilience and lifestyle benefits.
  • Lead the implementation of flexible benefits programmes for new and existing clients, including ownership of end to end delivery cycles such as annual enrolment.
  • Lead complex benefits projects, including platform implementations, enhancements, and provider transitions, ensuring effective, scalable and high quality delivery through strong governance and project management.
  • Manage delivery timelines and service levels, ensuring all client work is completed in a professional, timely and compliant manner, working collaboratively with internal teams as required.
  • Oversee budgets and commercial performance, including cost optimisation, provider negotiation, ROI analysis, and client invoicing.
  • Support business through developing client-relationships, cross selling, referrals, and leveraging the MKS network, contributing to tenders proposals.
  • Use data and analytics to assess benefits usage, cost and employee engagement, using insights to shape strategy and investment decisions.
  • Present clear, strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders to support decision making and continuous improvement of benefit programmes.
  • Lead communications to maximise engagement, accessibility and alignment with employer brand.
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulation, tax legislation and governance standards, maintaining robust controls, documentation and audit readiness.
  • Manage risk and resolve issues in line with internal policies.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Experience working with flexible benefits platforms and technology‑enabled employee benefits solutions, including involvement in platform implementation, configuration or optimisation.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering flexible benefits programmes at scale.
  • Strong understanding of UK benefits frameworks (including pensions, tax‑efficient benefits, insurance, and salary sacrifice schemes), with the ability to act as a credible subject matter expert at senior levels.
  • Experience managing suppliers, brokers and benefits platforms, with strong ownership and accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Commercially and service‑oriented, with the ability to deliver outstanding client service, translate client needs into solutions, and build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to articulate, agree and manage client fees, demonstrating commercial awareness and ensuring clients understand the value of services provided.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using data to evaluate programme performance and inform decision‑making.
  • Proven project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality outcomes under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, including the production of high‑quality documentation, and strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop practical and effective solutions in a changing environment.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring others, contributing to team development and continuous improvement.
