Building Safety Surveyor required for a leading provider of retirement villages.

  • Conduct comprehensive building safety surveys, inspections, and assessments across all locations within the portfolio to identify potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Provide an internal quality assurance and delivery service in relation to maintenance and repair of building safety systems and equipment, with a specific focus on fire, electricity, gas, water, lifts, and asbestos and ensure 100% compliance with these work areas and any associated remedial work programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with all current building safety legislation and regulations and promotes and communicates building safety throughout the organisation, to include staff, residents, and contractors.

Main Duties

  • Perform regular inspections of buildings, including fire safety systems, electrical systems, heating and ventilation systems, and structural components to ensure proper functioning and identify any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Where required, schedule and specify repairs and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Ensure the timely delivery/execution of all regulatory inspections and checks to include Regulation 7 and 10 of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely execution of all works arising from risk assessments and regulatory checks.
  • Support the Head of Property and Environment in all Building Safety tasks and act as chair of the Building Safety Working Group and Fire Focus Group as required. Be a permanent member of both groups.
  • Maintain and develop as necessary all Building Safety Case Reports for all higher-risk locations and develop and be responsible for the Golden Thread of information for all locations.
  • Work with the Building Safety and Compliance Officer to improve and embed best practice regarding Building Safety reporting and to develop our Building Safety Dashboard.
