We are partnering with a London-based investment firm specialising in direct Venture Capital secondaries to identify an Investment Analyst / Associate for its investment team.
The firm focuses on acquiring secondary stakes in individual growth-stage and late-stage venture-backed technology companies, providing liquidity to existing shareholders while investing in businesses with strong fundamentals and attractive exit potential.
The successful candidate will join a specialist investment team and contribute to the sourcing, evaluation, execution and management of direct VC secondary transactions.
This opportunity is particularly suited to an investment professional with hands‑on experience in single-company Venture Capital secondary investments , looking to further develop their expertise in private technology markets.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Origination & Screening
- Identify and evaluate direct secondary investment opportunities in venture-backed technology companies.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis and sector assessments.
- Assess company fundamentals, growth prospects, valuations and potential liquidity events.
- Support investment sourcing through relationships with investors, founders and secondary market participants.
- Perform detailed financial analysis and valuation of private technology companies.
- Evaluate secondary transaction pricing, potential returns and downside risks.
- Analyse company financial performance, capitalisation tables, shareholder structures and investment terms.
- Conduct commercial and financial due diligence on individual investment opportunities.
- Prepare investment recommendations and materials for investment committee consideration.
- Support the execution of direct VC secondary transactions from initial evaluation through closing.
- Assist with transaction structuring, negotiations and documentation.
- Coordinate with counterparties, legal advisers and internal stakeholders.
- Assess transaction economics, ownership structures and potential exit scenarios.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, valuations and market developments.
- Evaluate liquidity opportunities and potential exit strategies.
- Support investment reporting and ongoing portfolio analysis.
Candidate Requirements
- Approximately 2–3 years of relevant investment experience; candidates with additional experience may also be considered.
- Demonstrable hands‑on experience in direct Venture Capital secondary investments involving individual private companies.
- Experience analysing, underwriting or executing secondary purchases of existing shares in venture-backed businesses.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities.
- Understanding of private-company capital structures, shareholder rights and secondary transaction mechanics.
- Experience conducting company-level due diligence and preparing investment recommendations.
- Strong analytical, communication and commercial judgement skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a lean investment team.
- Experience investing in growth-stage or late-stage technology companies.
- Familiarity with secondary liquidity transactions involving founders, employees, early investors or existing shareholders.
- Experience with cross-border private market transactions.
- Knowledge of technology sectors such as AI, fintech, enterprise software, cybersecurity or digital infrastructure.
- Existing relationships within the Venture Capital secondary investment ecosystem.
