About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our production plant, machinery and site services operating at their best. Based at our Tamworth site, you’ll carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond quickly to breakdowns, helping us hit daily production targets and achieve our Despatch On Time goals. Your work will directly support operational stability, quality consistency and site resilience. By reducing downtime, improving reliability and maintaining high safety standards, you’ll help ensure we deliver for our customers, every single day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all production plant, machinery and site services.
  • Diagnose faults quickly and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime and production disruption.
  • Accurately record all maintenance work within the maintenance management system, including uptime and downtime reporting.
  • Support operational KPIs including equipment availability, energy performance, maintenance cost control and budget adherence.
  • Liaise with and supervise third-party contractors to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to the required standard.
  • Assist in maintaining critical services including HVAC, compressed air, electrical systems and print/insertion equipment.
  • Promote and uphold Health & Safety standards, ensuring compliance with site procedures and participating in audits and risk assessments where required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within engineering workshops and production areas.
  • Collaborate with production and departmental managers to maintain material flow, plant productivity and operational resilience.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned with LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Proactively suggest cost-saving opportunities and improvements across maintenance and facilities management.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs.

About You

  • Education aligned to recognised mechanical and/or electrical engineering standards.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of LEAN principles and practical application within an operational setting.
  • Confident decision-making ability with the courage to challenge when needed to support a great customer experience.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to meet daily production deadlines.
  • Ability to think clearly under pressure and respond effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Team-focused mindset that promotes a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Health & Safety awareness such as IOSH Working Safely.
  • IPAF, PASMA or other access equipment certification.
  • Experience within print, packaging, insertion or automated production environments.

Interview Process

  • Stage 1: Recruiter Screening Call.
  • Stage 2: Meeting with Hiring Manager & Health, Safety & Facility Manager.
  • Stage 3: Meeting with Hiring Manager & Site Lead Offer.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern

This role operates on a two-week alternating shift pattern, averaging 37.5 hours per week, covering Monday to Sunday.

  • Week 1: Mon–Wed on, Thurs–Fri off, Sat–Sun on.
  • Week 2: Mon–Tue off, Wed–Fri on, Sat–Sun off.

Shifts are 10 hours Monday–Friday and 9.5 hours Saturday–Sunday (including breaks).
