We are Newham, with a vision to build a better and brighter future for our residents. We are committed to tackling high levels of toxic pollution and delivering traffic, parking and environmental schemes to support our communities. Roles in the Highways and Transportation team will contribute to feasibility, design, consultation and implementation, service development, and priority public realm improvements, including planned highway maintenance schemes and Highway Safety Inspections. There are multiple roles available, including involvement in a major project along the Royal Docks Corridor (RDC). We offer flexible working arrangements to enhance work/life balance, including remote and at‑home working.
Responsibilities
- Support service delivery in a varied and fast-paced environment within the Highways and Transportation team.
- Engage in traffic, parking and environmental schemes from feasibility through to implementation, including public consultations and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with significant service initiatives such as the Kerbside Infrastructure Programme, Active and Sustainable Transport, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and Healthy School Streets.
- Collaborate with contractors, Elected Members, the general public and external stakeholders as part of delivery and communications.
- Contribute to major projects (e.g., Royal Docks Corridor) and ensure timely, quality outputs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working in a busy environment with excellent communication and ICT knowledge relevant to the service area.
- Experience dealing with contractors, Elected Members, the general public and other external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable involvement in ambitious service initiatives such as Kerbside Infrastructure Programme, Active and Sustainable Transport, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and Healthy School Streets.
