This role reports onsite in our London office.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Production Accountant to join our London-based finance team. This role combines hands-on production accounting across our slate of media productions with broader management accounting responsibilities at studio level. You will support the Head of Studio Finance (HoSF) with monthly reporting, oversee complex Work-in-Progress (WIP) reconciliations across multiple legal entities. A key focus of the role is ensuring the integrity of financial data between our studio production finance system (Smart Accounting) and our group ERP system (NetSuite). You will own the reconciliation process between the two systems, ensuring that production-level bookkeeping flows accurately and completely into group reporting. This role suits someone who is comfortable operating at both the detail level of a busy production office and the consolidated view required by group finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Support the HoSF with consolidating monthly figures, variance analysis, and commentary for the senior leadership reporting pack.
    • Report Smart Accounting monthly Trial Balances (TBs) to the Financial Controller – Management Accounts, and actively resolve queries.
    • Report on the latest values of WIP, Banked Content, and Capex, highlighting variances against budgets and re-forecasts.
    • Assist with cash flow reporting requirements for the Studio team, liaising with the Head of Treasury to support short term forecasting across the group.
    • Deliver monthly bank transaction reports to the Head of Treasury.
  • Production & Asset Accounting (WIP/Capitalisation)
    • Manage the end-to-end accounting flow for content assets: calculate and post monthly journals transitioning costs from WIP Capex based on the latest Estimated Final Cost (EFC) data.
    • Reconcile and maintain alignment between NetSuite and Smart Accounting for three distinct WIP accounts: Originals, Brand, Core, and ProdOps/Loco.
    • Monitor delivery schedules, content uploads, and banked assets to ensure accurate timing of capitalisation.
    • Execute WIP write-offs in NetSuite, coordinating with the Studio Finance and Development teams to identify and finalise cancelled projects/sub-projects.
    • Tracking and reconciliation of travel and entertainment (T&E) expenses between expense platforms and Smart Accounting, ensuring expenses recorded are complete and correctly coded.
    • Work with the HoSF across the allocation of central overheads and desk charges applied to production projects WIP / Capex.
  • Financial Controls & Intercompany Reconciliations
    • Oversee control accounts, monthly bank reconciliations, and VAT reporting.
    • Manage the reconciliation and sweeping of intercompany costs between UK and US entities (MEL to/from MB Studios / MB Prod US).
    • Maintain stream code mapping and master lists across core systems: Smart Accounting, NetSuite, Concur, and TravelPerk.
  • Audit & Tax Incentives
    • Act as a key point of contact for year-end audit queries, creating data bridges between NetSuite and Smart Accounting, and running detailed transactional/summary reports.
    • Provide supporting analysis and reports for Moonbase and cost reports (CRs) during the audit process.
    • Identify, analyse, and support UK and international tax incentive opportunities as they arise.
  • General
    • Build strong working relationships with production teams, line producers, and the wider finance function.
    • Ad hoc analysis and project work as directed by the Head of Production Finance.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Experience: Proven background in Media, Television, or Film Production finance. Strong understanding of production asset lifecycle (WIP, capitalisation, and amortisation).
  • Systems: Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Smart Accounting is highly advantageous. Familiarity with Concur and TravelPerk is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills are mandatory (must be comfortable handling large datasets and system bridges). A mindset focused on process automation and efficiency.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance production staff.
  • Time Management: Able to manage competing deadlines across multiple productions and period-end cycles.
  • Availability: Preferred immediate start required.
