My client is an interior fit-out contractor based in Leicester, working on projects including commercial interiors and hotels. Ideally looking for an experienced CAD Technician with a solid joinery design to manufacture knowledge and ideally 3D design experience.
The role:
- Produce manufacturing models and drawings from architectural and design intent drawings for approval and construction.
- Ensure all drawings and models are produced in line with manufacturing and drawing standards.
- Adhere to specific project standards such as naming conventions, numbering protocols and standard details.
- Ensure drawing check sheets are used before and during the drawing process.
- Produce drawings within allocated time frames and budgets.
- Report to Lead CAD Technician as and when required, reporting any issues with design, costs or timeframes set.
- Ensure critical dimensions are on all drawings.
- Read and understand Architectural Specifications ensuring drawings adhere to the requirements, raising any deviations with Lead CAD Technician.
- Ensure all ironmongery and equipment is detailed accurately.
- Where relevant, use Internal and Architectural models to derive up to date drawing information.
- Where requested, attend project design meetings and liaise with project team.
- Where relevant, output models in the required format for inclusion in the project model and format for CNC.
- When modelling joinery, ensure cutting lists are populated with component lists, IDs and panel sizes and that an ID tagged paper space has been produced.
- Where surveys are instructed by the CAD technicians to a 3rd party (i.e. the site supervisor/foreman), the CAD technician is to make reasonable steps to ensure the survey taken is accurate and concise.
Interdepartmental Duties:
- Liaise with factory regarding specific details and buildability.
- Liaise with buying for advice on any bought in items including but not exclusively; specialist metalworks, glass and fabrics.
- Liaise with all departments as and when required to fulfil aspects within the contractual works.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Liaise with specialist subcontractors when required.
- Ensure drawings are coordinated with subcontractors where there is a direct interface.
- Ensure cost sheets are reviewed with Lead CAD Technician prior to commencing drawing.
- Ensure feedback is given on any variation works so that this can be fed to the QS department for accurate cost recovery.
Compliance:
- Ensure all drawings are compliant with the NBS specification and current regulations relevant to the project (e.g. fire (spread of flame), BREEAM, DDA, CDM etc).
- Work in a safe manner following Company Procedures, 14001 Environmental, 9001 Quality and Statutory H&S Regulations.
