West of England Rural Network (WERN) is a charity dedicated to supporting sustainable, resilient and inclusive rural communities across Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Through locallyâled initiatives, community development, and strong partnerships, WERN ensures rural voices are heard and acted upon by policymakers and service providers.
They are now seeking to appoint a Finance Trustee to join their friendly, committed Board. Working closely with fellow trustees and the Chief Executive, you will provide financial oversight, support strategic decisionâmaking, and help ensure WERN's longâterm sustainability as they develop a new strategy focused on access to jobs and services, affordable housing, and health and wellbeing.
For this role, we are keen to hear from individuals with experience in financial management, charity finance, or financial oversight at board or committee level. You will be confident in interpreting financial information, scrutinising budgets and forecasts, and offering constructive challenge. An understanding of restricted/unrestricted funds, financial sustainability, or good governance practice would be advantageous. Above all, you will bring sound judgement, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to improving opportunities for people in rural communities.
This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute your expertise to a valuesâdriven organisation, making a tangible difference across the West of England. Whether you are an experienced trustee or stepping into your first trustee role, you will play a key part in shaping WERN's future impact while developing your own strategic and governance experience.
