Hammersmith United Charities (HUC) is a long‑established, place‑based charity that has been “serving the people of Hammersmith for more than 400 years”. The charity provides high‑quality almshouse accommodation for nearly 100 older residents, distributes around £350,000 annually to local organisations, and plays a leading role in strengthening community action across the borough. Guided by values of respect, tolerance, kindness and inclusion, HUC is committed to tackling inequality and empowering local people.

They are now seeking to appoint a Trustee, who will also serve as a member of the Grants and Community Committee. This voluntary role will contribute to the strategic leadership, governance and long‑term impact of the charity. The Trustee will support decisions on grant‑making, community partnerships, and the charity’s wider mission to ensure Hammersmith is a place where everyone feels valued, supported and able to thrive.

For this role, we are keen to hear from individuals who bring energy, curiosity and a strong connection to Hammersmith, whether through living locally, working in the borough, or having lived experience of the challenges faced by the community. You do not need previous Trustee experience; HUC provides a full induction, training and ongoing support. We particularly welcome applications from people whose backgrounds or perspectives are under‑represented in charity governance. All Trustees must be able to think strategically, exercise independent judgement, and be committed to tackling inequality.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a warm, committed and community‑rooted Board, and to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a charity that blends heritage, housing, grant‑making and local leadership.
