Join an historic charity, dedicated to providing relief to the elderly residents of Bristol. The Bristol Benevolent Institution (BBI) is a proud, historic charity rooted in Bristol since 1869. With an annual income of around £750,000 from endowment capital, BBI doesn't fundraise; it focuses entirely on delivering meaningful, tailored support to older individuals (60+) living in the BS postcode area, which includes Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
From quarterly grants to one-off support for essentials like furniture, flooring, and disability aids, BBI is a lifeline for many. Seasonal grants for heating in winter, and extras in summer and at Christmas add a thoughtful touch to their year-round care.
Now, BBI is seeking two new trustees to join their board. We will consider first-time trustees for both roles. We're particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance, Investment Funds and Fund management - this experience may come from client management and advice (HNW IFA, perhaps), working in the industry, or as a trustee on another endowed charity.
- Exposure to the lives that our beneficiaries lead and the problems they face - this can be through social care, occupational therapy, poverty alleviation, elderly care or housing support.
Both roles will play a vital part in guiding the charity's future direction, working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive (Secretary), and fellow Trustees to ensure strong governance, bold leadership, and lasting impact.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established charity with heart, history, and impact. If you're passionate about making a difference and want to help steer BBI's mission, we would love to hear from you.
