Shape the Future of Water Services in Your Region
Locations: Bournemouth, Bristol & Cornwall
Salary: £5,370 per annum plus reasonable expenses
Time Commitment: Approx. 12-15 days per year
Term: Three-year appointment
Our client is WaterShare, which acts as an independent customer and environment focused challenge panel and a unique customer engagement scheme enabled by Pennon Groups water companies: South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Sutton & East Surrey Water. WaterShare gives customers both a stake and a say in the company, ensuring transparency and fairness in the delivery of essential water services.
We are now seeking to appoint three Regional Deputy Chairs for WaterShare:
- Bournemouth Deputy Chair
- Bristol Deputy Chair
- Cornwall Deputy Chair
This is a strategic, non-executive role offering the opportunity to champion customer interests, influence decision-making, and help shape the future of water services in your region.
The Role
As Deputy Chair, you will:
- Work collaboratively with the WaterShare Panel to challenge and scrutinise company performance.
- Act as a champion for customer views, ensuring engagement and feedback are central to decisions.
- Promote WaterShare and increase awareness of its role in giving customers a voice.
- Attend public and private meetings, including three online public meetings, one in-person regional meeting, the annual customer AGM, and four private sessions with the Pennon executive team.
- Deputise for the Regional Chair when required.
About You
We are looking for individuals who:
- Are recognised figures within their region with a track record showing they have the experience and capability for championing customer interests and priorities.
- Demonstrate independence, integrity, and emotional intelligence.
- Have experience in board-led or non-executive roles, with strong communication and influencing skills.
- Understand local issues and have wide links into the communities they represent.
- Knowledge of regulated industries and commercial awareness is desirable.
In addition, the Watershare panel is keen to complement its existing range of skills with at least one candidate having either:
- A background in the water sector or its regulation
- A background in representing business in one of the regions or nationally (e.g. in a business sector advocacy organisation, or a LEP or similar)
