Moog is a performance culture that empowers people to achieve great things. Our people enjoy solving interesting technical challenges in a culture where everyone trusts each other to do the right thing. For you, working with us can mean deeper job satisfaction, better rewards, and a great quality of life inside and outside of work.
We're looking for an Equipment Maintenance Engineer at Tewkesbury to own the sustainment of our deployed test systems, ensuring reliability across mechanical, electrical, electronic and software components. If you thrive in a collaborative, high-trust environment where your expertise truly matters, this is your opportunity to shape performance, drive improvements and support aerospace excellence.
As our Equipment Maintenance Engineer, you will own the sustainment, reliability, and improvement of over 150 test systems that underpin our entire product lifecycle. You'll lead maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and obsolescence management — working closely with our customer, technicians, and engineering teams to keep critical test equipment operational and compliant. These systems combine mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and hydraulic/power distribution components — so this is a role that rewards broad engineering knowledge, problem-solving, and the ability to see the whole picture.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve production-stopping issues, quality escapes, and yield-limiting faults — fast and effectively.
- Manage all sustainment work via our Maintenance Management System (MMS): logging, tracking, and documenting every request, inspection, and activity.
- Maintain full configuration integrity of deployed test equipment — creating, updating, and releasing formal documentation alongside all engineering work.
- Run correlation tests across systems to ensure accurate data and smooth equipment handovers.
- Keep stakeholders and our customer clearly updated on progress, risks, and schedules.
- Support procurement of spares, sub-assemblies, and services to keep systems supported.
- Lead obsolescence management: identify ageing components, plan replacements, and coordinate upgrade packages.
- Investigate root causes, support audits, and drive corrective actions and non-conformance resolutions.
- Champion Health & Safety: write/review risk assessments, enforce safe working practices, and act as an authorised LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) competent person.
- Drive continuous improvement through lean initiatives and actively participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Embed Moog's culture and values in everything you do.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant engineering sector — ideally aerospace, test systems, or industrial maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability, with sound engineering judgement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio).
- Willing and able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Able to work flexibly and occasionally outside standard hours to support critical maintenance.
Desirable
- Experience designing or maintaining multi-axis, closed-loop, servo-hydraulic or electromechanical test systems.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, MMS, NX, AutoCAD, or LabVIEW.
- Knowledge of robotics or automation systems.
- Understanding of aerospace quality standards and maintenance processes.
- Experience working directly with customers or cross-functional global teams.
Personal Qualities
- A natural team player who thrives in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Highly organised — able to manage up to 10 concurrent activities and prioritise effectively.
- Proactive, reliable, and comfortable making sound technical judgements under pressure.
- Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Aligned with Moog's values: Trust, Competence, Team Spirit, Diligence, Accountability, Effective Communication, Adaptability, Recognition, and Enjoyment.
What We Offer:
- Flexible benefits package and development opportunities to support career progression.
- 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays).
- Private medical insurance, mental health support and financial advice.
- Generous life assurance and company pension contribution (from 6%).
- Employee share options, free onsite parking, EV charging and gym facilities.
We review applications on an ongoing basis, and the job posting will be closed once a suitable candidate is selected. We recommend all interested individuals to apply as soon as possible.
