Moog Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Principal (Staff) Systems Project Engineer to support our growing business unit. You will lead the Systems Engineering efforts in the design and development of complex commercial aircraft systems while also providing project engineering leadership to ensure technical scope, cost, schedule, and execution milestones are achieved. You will report to the Moog Commercial Aircraft Systems and Software Engineering Manager in East Aurora, New York.

As a Principal (Staff) Systems Engineer, you will focus on the design of next-generation commercial aircraft solutions. You will provide engineering leadership, project leadership, and engineering process ownership for your projects to ensure execution milestones are met. You will also be responsible for system design, requirements management, and directing offshore engineering resources for the Commercial Aircraft Business Unit.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead systems engineering execution for assigned programs, ensuring alignment of technical scope, cost, schedule, and program milestones.
  • Lead system design, functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Effectively communicate these internal design requirements to the other members of the design/project team.
  • Support creation of system-level models, models as requirements, and simulations necessary to support solution architectures with customers during all stages of the development efforts.
  • Lead the identification and definition of all Verification and Validation approaches for the system or subsystem.
  • Lead the development of subsystem-level requirements that are fully traceable to system-level requirements. Write specifications to capture these requirements.
  • Lead system or subsystem-level integration and test, including any anomaly investigations.
  • Provide regular status of technical progress, risks, cost, and schedule to engineering leadership and program stakeholders, including support for work package planning, cost estimate development, performance tracking, variance identification, and corrective action planning, as applicable.
  • Create concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe the design decisions and analysis results.
  • Lead the preparation of successful proposals. Contributions include subsystem-level architecture, verification and validation approaches, component-level design requirements, requirements compliance assessment, cost estimates, and technical write-ups.
  • Support the creation of product platforms, models and simulations that reduce the overall recurring cost associated with new product development. Maintain, update and evaluate modeling and simulation tools as required.
  • Direct offshore or remote engineering resources to ensure delivery against technical, cost, and schedule commitments.

To be considered for the Staff Systems Project Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
