We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Team Leader to supervise and manage the resource of our Manufacturing Engineering Team in the day-to-day running of our machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and monitoring workload priorities, individual targets, and offering guidance on best manufacturing practices while leading the shop floor route cause corrective actions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team, both shop floor and personnel management.
- Direct work assignments, scheduling, and review of work in progress.
- Support personnel actions including performance reviews, and coordination of training and development.
- Establish and deliver lean processes into the manufacturing environment.
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in identifying key process improvement projects.
- Create and support the deployment of effective methods and processes based on 3D models for product launch into the manufacturing area.
- Help establish standard times for each operation ensuring minimisation of the 7 wastes.
- Support Manufacturing Engineer(s) / Technician(s) in the creation, review, and approval of gauging, fixtures, and special tooling.
- Provide support and technical assistance to other departments on the facility and, at times, globally.
- Responsible for shop support resource allocation and direct involvement with any support actions.
Key Skills and Experience:
- BSc Degree (vocational, professional, or advanced) or equivalent in the field of Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering/Leadership (Preferred).
- HNC/HND (vocational, professional, or advanced) or equivalent in the field of Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering.
- Progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field of manufacturing/process engineering.
- Progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field Lean methodologies and Zero Defects.
- Proven previous knowledge of machining practices including but not limited to; Mill/Turn - 5 Axis Milling - Grinding - Gear Cutting - Spark/Wire Eroding - Honing/Lapping.
- Proven leadership/management qualities including 1 to 1 support, development of training plans and workload resource management.
Security Clearance Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
