Due to growth, we are now seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and help drive excellence within our Wolverhampton manufacturing facility. This is a high-impact role for an experienced manufacturing professional who thrives on solving complex problems, leading process innovation, and mentoring others—all while working with cutting-edge technology and world-class engineering teams. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will take ownership of Make/Buy part reviews, manufacturing process development, and continuous improvement initiatives within your assigned product area. You will play a critical role in ensuring new and existing programs meet manufacturing strategy, cost targets, quality expectations, and delivery commitments. You’ll act as a trusted technical authority—guiding best practices, approving key documentation, and supporting teams across design, engineering, operations, and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Manufacturing Excellence
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Support Engineers
- Lead part reviews including GD&T, manufacturability, and cost optimization
- Act as a key signatory for ECNs, work instructions, SOPs, procedures, tooling, and fixtures
- Advanced Manufacturing & Process Development
- Develop robust machining processes for complex, tight-tolerance components
- Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve quality, cost, and delivery
- Scope, specify, and support capital investment in new machines, tooling, and technology
- Machining & Engineering Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of:
- 5-axis simultaneous machining
- Milling, turning, and cutting tool selection
- 5-axis fixture design
- CAD/CAM programming (Siemens NX preferred, SolidWorks)
- Post-processing and full process documentation
- RCCA and practical problem solving
- Partner with Design, Product Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure:
- DFM and DFSS principles are embedded early
- APQP deliverables are met (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA)
- Support successful product launch into manufacturing
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing support within your product area
- Resolve process issues, minimize downtime, and improve reliability
- Support TPM and other improvement initiatives
- Contribute to digitalization and future manufacturing strategies
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications & Experience
- BSc (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (preferred)
- Significant, progressive experience in manufacturing or process engineering
- Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, DFM, DFSS, APQP, and Zero Defects
- Strong CNC programming experience using 3D CAD/CAM tools
- Desirable Process Knowledge
- EDM (Wire Erode)
- Honing
- Turning and sliding head technology
- Grinding and deburring
- Heat treatment and special processes (anodising, plating, etc.)
