About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Lead – Safety and Reliability to take ownership of complex reliability programs and lead initiatives that ensure the highest standards of safety and system performance. This senior role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, managing reliability activities across advanced programs involving system integration and teaming arrangements with major subcontractors and partners.
You will play a critical role in shaping reliability strategies, developing innovative test programs, and providing technical guidance to both internal teams and external partners. This position offers significant autonomy and requires strong decision-making skills, technical depth, and exceptional interpersonal communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Complex Programs: Manage reliability and safety programs for complex systems, including integration responsibilities and coordination with team partners and subcontractors. Provide guidance and oversight for reliability activities conducted at partner facilities and within Moog’s reliability team.
- Develop Reliability Test Programs: Design and propose cost-effective reliability test strategies (e.g., RDGT) that meet contractual requirements and deliver meaningful evaluations for electro-hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Reliability & Availability Guarantees: Analyse and interpret guarantee terms, develop reliability models, and prepare statistical forecasts to predict failure rates, repair activity, and inventory sizing. Ensure risk mitigation and accurate cost exposure analysis for extended coverage programs.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as Group Leader for Component Engineering, offering technical advisement on component selection, obsolescence, and PMP issues. Act as liaison between engineering teams and remote sites.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface with internal disciplines such as Design, Quality Assurance, Product Engineering, Environmental Test Engineering, and Program Management to ensure alignment and successful program delivery.
What You’ll Bring
- Education & Experience: BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, including several years in reliability engineering; OR qualified by experience, including reliability engineering experience.
- Skills & Attributes: Proven ability to manage complex programs and conceptualise unique analytical solutions. Strong understanding of reliability modelling, statistical forecasting, and risk analysis. Excellent interpersonal skills—tact, persuasiveness, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make critical decisions confidently.
