Moog Aircraft Group is looking for a Masker / Blaster to join the team at our facility based in Wolverhampton. At Moog we're focused on the customer and for us this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high profile. Our team works to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and calibrating testing equipment, conducting material tests, interpreting results, and generating reports on your findings. This is a hands-on role within the Masking Team in Special Processing, responsible for preparing aerospace components for heat treatment and plating operations through masking and blasting techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare components for heat treatment and plating processes, primarily through masking using tapes and masking materials.
  • Occasional blasting duties using various blasting media.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and process specifications.
  • Operate in line with quality standards, including Nadcap and Moog Quality Systems.
  • Safely handle hazardous substances and comply with all chemical HS&E procedures.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of equipment and produce test pieces as required.
  • Perform inspections using micrometres, verniers, plug gauges, etc., ensuring parts meet specification.
  • Support quality investigations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Book parts in and out of the system using Solumina and SAP.
  • Carry out de-masking and stripping tasks as needed.

Experience & Skills:

Essential:

  • Factory or manufacturing experience (shift work).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Engineering or Aerospace background preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good attitude, willing to listen, learn, and reliable.

Desirable:

  • Aerospace experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification.

This role may require the individual to work a shift pattern and overtime when requested. The role requires the candidate to be self-certified and a quality stamp holder after qualifying period.
