Reporting To: Cell Leader (Machinist)
Work Schedule: Onsite – Tewkesbury, GBR
Shift Pattern: This role operates on a two‑weekly rotation between AM and PM shifts.
- AM: Mon–Thurs 6:00 am–2:15 pm; Fri 6:15 am–11:45 am
- PM: Mon–Tues 2:00 pm–9:15 pm; Wed–Thurs 2:00 pm–9:30 pm; Fri 11:30 am–7:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate a range of CNC machines, including a conventional Okuma lathe, Shigiya CNC cylindrical grinder and Sunnen horizontal Honer.
- Engage in daily problem‑solving and assist in driving enhancements to the manufacturing processes.
- Carry out inspection checks using a variety of manual and automated metrology equipment.
- Conduct self‑inspections and complete necessary quality audits to obtain self‑certification inspection stamps.
- Work from approved engineering drawings, inspection plans, and shop documentation, accurately recording required data.
- Adopt and implement lean manufacturing principles in line with Moog’s standards.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery as per company policy.
Qualifications:
- Experience setting and operating a range of CNC Lathes, Cylindrical Grinders and Horizontal Honing machines (Okuma lathes preferred but not critical).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work to extremely tight tolerances and have a perfectionist’s mentality to quality.
- Proficient in inspecting components with diverse manual and automated metrology equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Demonstrate daily problem‑solving skills and overcome challenges through the effective use of your own initiative.
- The ability to read and interpret a range of different manufacturing drawings for complex components working in both metric and imperial.
