Moog is seeking a Reliability Engineering & ILS Manager to lead and support complex programs that require strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. This is a working manager role where you will provide engineering leadership, project leadership, business leadership, and engineering process ownership for your team. You will provide and assign the appropriate engineering resources on projects, manage the performance of your direct reports, maintain and improve engineering processes, and ensure project milestones are met.
Additionally, you’ll guide reliability and safety activities across internal teams and external partners, integrating diverse analysis inputs into comprehensive system-level evaluations. A key responsibility includes developing predictive models to support reliability and availability guarantees, helping quantify risk and inform proposal responses. This role can be in Tewkesbury or Wolverhampton, GBR and offers a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage execution of work by team members through monitoring progress and providing technical direction as well as establishing priorities.
- Mentor direct reports in all aspects of career development providing goals, feedback and recognition and developing talent through career planning and progression.
- Actively demonstrate Performance Management of resources to optimize skills and capabilities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to a Reliability & Safety team on programs involving the systems level integration of complex hardware such as motor control electronics, flight control computers, linear/rotary electromechanical/hydraulic actuation.
- Evaluate Reliability/Safety requirements to recommend strategies, exceptions, ground rules and caveats to ensure compliance and reduce program risk.
- Perform the following types of reliability analyses for aerospace development programs:
- Reliability Prediction
- Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Flight Safety Probability of Loss of Control (PLOC) Analysis
- Safety Hazard Analysis (SHA)
- Common Mode Analysis (CMA)
- Physics of Failure (PoF)
- Built-in-Test (BIT) coverage and system monitoring architecture development
Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years in Reliability & Safety, with significant experience in aerospace or safety-critical systems.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Reliability and FMEA analysis using analysis tools such as Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software, CAFTA and or Isograph Reliability Workbench for safety fault trees, and Sherlock for Physics of Failure life assessments for electronics.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of EASA CS-23 and CS-25.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in flight control actuation and fly-by-wire systems.
- Certification as an ASQC Reliability Engineer.
- Sound understanding of ILS principles.
- Familiarity with SAE guidelines ARP4754 and ARP4761.
- Experience as a supervisor in an engineering discipline.
