Moog Aircraft Group are offering Higher Level Engineering Apprentice opportunities (Level 4 and 5) to join the teams at our engineering/manufacturing facility based in Tewkesbury. Level 4 (Higher National Certificate HNC) and 5 (Higher National Diploma HND) are equivalent to the 1st and 2nd year of an undergraduate degree.
Quality Engineering
The Quality Engineering department works closely with all departments, technical and non-technical, within the business, from design all the way through to aftermarket, and supports the continual improvement of Moog products and processes. A Quality Engineering Intern will perform varied technical tasks related to project engineering which is non-routine such as product improvement studies, process improvement studies, and the development of new systems & procedures. The Quality Engineering Intern is responsible for conducting failure analyses by utilising their organisational skill, technical knowledge, and analytical and communication skills. The end result is to find the root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions, making sure that the problem never arises again.
Supported by Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET), work-based placements, NVQ’s, and academic studies. You will start with a year in a learning environment at the GET facility in Gloucester to gain initial academic knowledge and hands on experience. Following this, the program moves into day release studies whilst attending the Tewkesbury AG site for the remainder of the week. Structured work-based rotations around the Tewkesbury facility enable a well-rounded experience of the different functions across our business supporting completion of Level 4 and 5 NVQ.
Key Expertise and/or requirements
- Level 3 qualifications (A Level or BTEC Level 3) or equivalent to progress towards HNC/HND level.
- At least 5 GCSEs, including the minimum of a level 4 (C grade) in Math, and level 4 (C grade) or above in four other subjects including Science and English.
- Mechanical Engineering interests, natural flair for innovation/creativity, and curiosity for how things work.
- Mechanical and hydraulic design interests and/or hobbies.
- Experience of technical projects that may include drawing, manufacture, test, software, or electrical systems would be of interest.
- Understanding/Interest of manufacturing/machining processes.
- Interests and hobbies that support a mechanical aptitude and interest in the principles of Engineering.
