Due to continued growth across our Commercial Aircraft Group, Moog is expanding its Manufacturing Engineering capability.

Moog Commercial Aircraft Group in Tewkesbury is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership across machining operations, New Product Introduction activities and manufacturing process development.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can drive manufacturing excellence, support complex machining challenges and mentor others within the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of lean manufacturing processes focused on quality, cost and delivery.
  • Create and optimise machining processes for complex aerospace components using Siemens NX and associated CAD/CAM technologies.
  • Provide Design for Manufacture (Df M) input during product development activities.
  • Lead APQP activities such as PFMEA, Control Plans and MSA studies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, reducing downtime and improving process capability.
  • Review engineering drawings and recommend design improvements to enhance manufacturability and standardisation.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Mentor and support Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in tooling, gauging and fixture design.
  • Support strategic manufacturing initiatives and operational excellence programmes.
  • What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Significant Manufacturing Engineering experience within a precision machining environment.
  • 5 Axis Milling and/or Mill turn Background
  • Advanced CNC programming expertise using Siemens NX.
  • Strong knowledge of Df M, PFMEA, GD&T and process optimisation methodologies.
  • Experience leading NPI programmes from concept through to production.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Vericut experience.
  • 5 Axis Milling (Okuma MU4000V or equivalent) and Millturn (Mazak I100, I200 or DMG NTX 1000)
  • Knowledge of DFSS, Zero Defects and advanced lean methodologies.
  • Exposure to EDM, honing, lapping, grinding, flow deburring, anodising and heat treatment processes.
  • Strong Siemens NX experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Exposure to advanced manufacturing processes including automation.
