We are looking for an experienced Product Engineer (Operations Support) to join our Aircraft Control Components team in Tewkesbury. This role serves as a focal point for the engineering/process of TMA (Torque Motor Assembly) and AFSA (Armature Flexure Sleeve Assembly) within the AFSA cell, collaborating with the operational team. It includes implementation of new products and processes, sustainment of legacy products into the production environment, and process refinements based on investigations or improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical focal point for TMA and AFSA within the AFSA cell.
- Analyse production data to identify improvement opportunities (efficiency and cost), ensure process control, and prioritise activities to meet business quality and delivery targets.
- Support product or process changes to improve system performance to better meet customer or other user needs.
- Coordinate engineering justification for product integrity investigations internally and communicate with suppliers and customers.
- Select and use appropriate procedures, equipment, and standards to produce required data and assist with interpretation.
- Work closely with the sustainment test equipment team to isolate testing issues in software, electronics, hydraulics, or product.
- Perform GD&T analysis of assemblies and components to support acceptance of non‑conforming parts.
- Support investigations for production issues to drive rapid containment and prevent recurrence.
- Interpret and analyse production data feedback to help improve yield.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience with strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment as a manufacturing or quality engineer.
- Proficient and confident presenter able to communicate well across all organisational levels.
- Experience in PFMEA, Control Plans & Process Flow Diagrams creation and updates through the product life cycle.
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Requirements management, validation & testing experience (comparison testing).
- Ability to contribute to design standards and specifications.
- Experience in automation and digital thread projects.
- Experience with design concepts of specialised tooling for test rigs and assembly.
- Strong knowledge of laser welding and brazing.
- Experience with precision assembly processes and associated tooling/fixture design.
- Good awareness of precision manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively and to be self‑motivated to own and deliver objectives independently.
- Ability to travel within the UK as required.
