The Role / Responsibilities:

Reporting:

  1. Preparation of quarterly and annual calculations of current and deferred tax provisions for EMEA under US GAAP for management reporting and for inclusion in the published consolidated Financial Statements of MCO.
  2. Reconciliation of statutory to management reported tax for GAAP adjustments.
  3. Ensuring tax provisions and prior year adjustments are prepared timely and booked accurately.
  4. Preparation/review of statutory tax notes across EMEA.
  5. Assisting with the preparation of the projected ETR.
  6. Managing quarterly/year end support files for external auditors.
  7. Ensuring SOX processes are followed.

Corporate tax compliance:

  1. Managing/reviewing of returns for the EMEA region. Where outsourcing is in place, working closely with the accounting team to ensure all relevant information is provided timely.
  2. Ensuring that compliance is prepared, reviewed, and submitted in a timely manner.
  3. Ensuring that all corporate tax payments on account are made on time.
  4. Assisting with gathering information during tax audits.

Indirect Taxation/Other:

  1. Review of VAT returns and EC Sales list across EMEA.
  2. Ensuring all VAT filings (including payments) are completed timely.
  3. Dealing with day-to-day VAT and withholding tax queries from the business.
  4. Preparation of PAYE Settlement Agreements for companies in the UK group.
  5. Monitoring and research of tax legislative changes that may impact the business.
  6. Assisting with transfer pricing information provision.
  7. Involvement in ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications:

  1. Preferably CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified.
  2. Significant tax experience; specifically related to corporate tax and VAT (preferably in a large multi-national company or in a major accounting firm).
  3. Both US GAAP and IFRS tax accounting experience preferred.
  4. Exposure to transfer pricing issues preferred.
  5. Very good technical knowledge of UK corporation tax and a good understanding of international tax issues (EMEA).
  6. European tax compliance experience.
  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  8. Knowledge of a major financial system, experience with SAP preferable.
  9. Competent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, attention to detail and proactive approach.
  11. Other European language is a bonus.
