Role Overview

The Executive Director – Fund Finance (EMEA) is a senior people leader responsible for translating Moody's Fund Finance franchise strategy into execution across the EMEA portfolio. Fund Finance is a strategically important and rapidly growing part of the financial ecosystem, providing critical liquidity and financing to investment funds and their stakeholders. This role provides end-to-end oversight of ratings performance, portfolio quality, and market engagement for the EMEA team, while leading a high-performing analytical group and driving strategic, operational, and digital transformation initiatives.

Reporting to the Global Head of Fund Finance, the ED will help set the strategic direction for the franchise across EMEA, strengthen analytical capabilities, expand market presence, and support the delivery of high-quality, independent credit opinions. The role combines deep credit expertise, executive leadership, and strategic delivery, and works closely with groups across Moody's Ratings — including the Private Credit franchise — to enhance coordination and support issuers as the growth of private credit drives increasing demand for fund finance solutions and accelerates the convergence of these markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Market Voice: Execute the Fund Finance research and outreach strategy for EMEA, enhancing publications, digital assets, and market voice. Represent the franchise internally and externally, articulating Moody's perspectives on fund finance trends and credit risk in EMEA. Serve as a subject-matter leader on fund finance themes, identifying evolving market trends and ensuring analytical consistency on complex transactions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including fund sponsors, investors, intermediaries, media, and regulatory bodies, including in sensitive or high-profile situations. Collaborate across regional Fund Finance teams, rating groups, and related franchises to drive coordination, consistency, and a cohesive One Moody's approach.
  • Team Leadership & Analytical Governance: Lead, develop, and manage a team of Fund Finance analytical professionals in EMEA, with accountability for hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development. Chair rating committees, ensuring analytical rigor and adherence to Moody's methodologies and policies. Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture and act as a role model for Moody's leadership behaviors.
  • Operational Excellence & Innovation: Drive digital and AI-enabled transformation, process standardization, and automation initiatives to improve analytical quality and efficiency. Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, maintaining the highest standards of integrity, governance, and risk management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strategic Leadership: Strategic thinker who sees the bigger picture, connects the team's work to broader franchise and business goals, anticipates market trends, and translates strategy into execution.
  • Credit & Analytical Leadership: Deep expertise in fund finance, credit analysis, and risk assessment, with strong rigor and the ability to oversee complex portfolios and high-profile issuers.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Confident and self-directed in engaging with issuers, investors, sponsors, intermediaries, and regulators; builds trust and credibility quickly.
  • Team & Organizational Leadership: Natural leadership presence with demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Thought Leadership & Market Presence: Recognized as a thought leader with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Change & Innovation Leadership: Experience in driving change, digital and AI-enabled transformation, and process innovation.

Qualifications

  • Senior market participant with exceptionally strong credit skills; broad credit experience (typically 12–15 years), including exposure to fund finance, private credit, or related structured/leveraged finance markets, essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with enterprise perspective, sound judgment, and accountability, balancing commercial priorities, analytical integrity, regulatory expectations, and long-term franchise objectives.
  • Track record of shaping future-ready teams by building leadership capability, encouraging continuous learning, and creating an environment where people are empowered to adapt, innovate, and deliver through change.
