Skills and Competencies

  • Proven track record in direct B2B sales, ideally within the energy sector (utilities, renewables, oil and gas, power generation, energy infrastructure)
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics, regulatory environment, and key business drivers within the European energy industry
  • Strong consultative selling approach with experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence C-level stakeholders and develop strategic partnerships
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and influencing skills, with ability to navigate matrix organisations and build consensus
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to identify and capture new business opportunities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work autonomously and within global and regional teams
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity for learning how AI tools can support business outcomes and improve sector-specific processes
  • Fluency in additional European languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish, Italian)
  • Experience working across multiple European markets within the energy sector

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, preferably in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • This role will drive revenue growth and strategic client relationships within the European energy sector through consultative sales and account development
  • Manage and grow commercial relationships with Moody’s largest and most strategic energy sector customers across Europe
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities, initiate sales activity, and manage complex sales cycles through to closure
  • Develop and execute account strategies and business plans aligned with client priorities and evolving energy market dynamics
  • Act as a trusted advisor to C-level stakeholders, positioning Moody’s solutions across risk, sustainability, and transformation initiatives
  • Maintain deep understanding of energy industry trends, including energy transition, ESG, regulatory developments, supply chain risk, and digital transformation
  • Generate and convert leads through proactive networking, prospecting, and cross-selling across Moody’s product suite
  • Collaborate with global teams, including sales specialists, product management, and leadership, to deliver client value and close opportunities
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and market insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Travel up to 50% to engage with clients face-to-face while operating within a hybrid working model

The Strategic Sales team at Moody’s Analytics is responsible for driving growth across the company’s most important and complex client relationships within the energy sector across Europe. The team operates regionally while leveraging global expertise, delivering high-impact solutions that support clients in navigating risk, regulatory change, sustainability, and transformation challenges. By joining this team, you will play a key role in expanding Moody’s presence in the European energy market, working with senior stakeholders, and contributing to innovative, data-driven and AI-enabled solutions that support client success.
