Role/Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the rating process for financial institution debt issuers by providing Moody's lead analysts and rating committees with analysis on accounting and financial reporting practices and implications for ratings.
- Produce timely and relevant research for Moody's fixed-income investor clients.
- Comment on credit implications of financial reporting and regulatory practices in financial institutions (banking, insurance, asset managers and related organisations).
- Analyse financial reporting practices of select high-risk/high-profile companies and assess credit implications.
- Lead interviews of senior corporate officers and directors on accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Participate in the development and delivery of financial reporting training for Moody's credit analysts.
- Represent Moody's views in various external forums and with various external constituents, including investors, standard setters, regulators and the press.
Education: Graduate degree is preferred; CPA or Chartered Accountant certification is required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in accounting/auditing function with significant recent experience in accounting for banks.
- Big 4 experience is preferred.
- National office or Accounting technical group experience desirable.
- Deep experience in either IFRS or US GAAP, and some experience in the other of those.
- Detailed and extensive understanding of current trends in accounting, particularly relating to financial institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to write/publish and to present before professional audiences.
